lyrics

There was a day
Contained within a frame of tape
Waiting to exist again
Waiting to be watched

There was a light
Inviting me to film it right
Waiting for the shot to take
Waiting for the shot

And there were some forms
Darting through the dark above
Waiting to reveal themselves
Waiting to reveal

You can call them rods, you can call them gods
You can swear they're bigger than the odds
Waiting for the evidence
Waiting for the evidence

They're not real
They are merely tricks of light
No one believes
They were here at all

Trying hard to get a grip on this thing
Do you mind if I just ask you one thing?
If there was Heaven and the tape was reeling
Would I then record the angels singing?
Or are we picking patterns up from nothing?
Making matter out of static buzzing?
Still the rods are flying 'round you
On the videotape

And I could swear
The light that leaked from out your eyes
Was drowning out entire worlds
Drowning out the world

You can call them rods, you can call them gods
You can swear they're bigger than the odds
Waiting for the evidence
Waiting for the tape

Don't you move
You might blur the shot
They must believe
We were here at all

Trying hard to get a grip on this thing
Do you mind if I just ask you one thing?
If there was Heaven and the tape was reeling
Would I then record the angels singing?
Or are we picking patterns up from nothing?
Making matter out of static buzzing?
Still the rods are flying 'round you
On the videotape
